Dany Heatley Breathes a Sigh of Relief

Susan Slusserby Susan Slusser

Dany Heatley skated on a line with San Jose’s Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton last month at Team Canada’s Olympic orientation camp, and because Heatley was thought to be a Sharks‘ target most of the summer, the three kidded around a bit about the possibility of keeping that line together.

“We were kind of joking around with it,” Heatley said on a conference call Saturday after being traded from Ottawa to San Jose. “There was talk of San Jose as well. It was fun to get out on the ice with those guys.”

OHL Hockey – A World of Hockey Talent

The Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League make up the Canadian Hockey League. Each junior hockey league holds there own draft of players and also take part in what is called the CHL Import Draft to now provide junior hockey talent world wide. Many CHL players are selected to play for Team Canada Hockey, Team USA Hockey, World Junior Hockey teams as well as drafted into the National Hockey League.

What should i do (hockey)?

Hi gang, Rick Ostler here with OHL Hockey News, bringing you News and Views from the Ontario Hockey League as well Junior Hockey worldwide. One of our followers writes in; Im 13 years old 5'5 130lbs and play house hockey. I want to know what kind of drills to do that could excel me into rep hockey or high school hockey

also i was wondering how you start playing junior b hockey or if the ohl has tryouts

Work on things at home by yourself- stickhandle in your garage or driveway and focus on the basics, like make sure your head is up and you're using a proper wrist roll. Shoot pucks outside. Rollerblade and work on your stride, crossovers, etc. Run- it'll help you sooo much.
Work on building all your muscles, especially your legs. Do squats, wall-sits and jumps. Make sure you're always pushing yourself. This will make you so much faster.
Strong wrists and biceps are important for a hard shot. Do push-ups. You can make this thing to improve your wrist strength: get a thick stick about a foot long- part of a shaft of a stick works really well- and a doughnut weight that's 1lb or 1.5 lb. Tie a lace connecting the weight and the stick. Hold your arms straight out in front of you, and rotate your wrists to move the weight up and down, with the lace wrapping and unwrapping around the stick.
I hope this helped. Good luck!
(:

Do you think the City of North Bay will ever get and OHL hockey team again?

If they do get a team what will they have to do to keep it here??

its sucks i know the Cornwall Royals had great players that played in the NHL and they use to be in the QMJHL but kept winning the Memorial cup so Ontario made Cornwall Royals join the OHL Hockey. but then some ass came in a bought the Royals from Cornwall and moved them to his home town which sucked because Cornwall has a great hockey history and a great system great hockey leagues in Cornwall.
