Game 62 Kingston at Belleville Feb 27th

Not too good a start. Down 2-0 but outshot the Bulls 17-9 so there’s a good sign going forward… but the idea that Belleville could win the season series just seems ridiculous.

Ottawa’s in Erie tonight… no idea who takes that one. Kingston probably hoping the long roadie takes its toll on them.

Listening on the radio… right now the music bed for the out of town scoreboard is going but there’s nobody talking. It’s a bit bizarre. But I just realized that music is the same as what Cogeco used to use for its “TV Cogeco Sports Presentation” intro. The things you learn…

Game 61 Belleville at Kingston Feb 26th

Have so many different threads going, thought we better have a single one for thoughts about this game.
Every game now is big, but none more than this back to back with Belleville. Ottawa has a tough road weekend.
The team is eyeing first place, having a 8 wins in their last 10 games, and I think its 7 or 8 wins at home in a row.
Im calling Fronts by 3.

Best of the WHL

The annual “Best of the East” poll, as done by Brandon Wheat Kings p-b-p voice Bruce Luebke, is out for 2009-10. Click here to read.

And because I’m not sure I mentioned it at the time, the Tri-City Herald released the “Best of the West” last week too.

I like these things….it’s fun to see who the league’s players, coaches, etc think are tops at the various categories. Check them out if you haven’t already.

The “magic” numbers to clinch various things…..

Eastern Conference:

Medicine Hat to clinch playoff spot: 1 win or Prince Albert loss

Calgary to clinch Central division title and at least #2 seed in conference: 1.5 wins or Kootenay losses

Regina to be eliminated: 2 losses or Swift Current wins

Moose Jaw to clinch playoff spot: 4.5 wins or Prince Albert losses

Prince Albert to be eliminated: 5 losses or Swift Current wins

Swift Current to clinch playoff spot: 5 wins or Prince Albert losses

Kootenay to clinch at least #4 seed and home ice in the first round: 6 wins or Red Deer losses

Saskatoon to clinch East division title and at least #2 seed in conference: 6 wins or Brandon losses

Calgary to clinch 1st in the conference: 7.5 wins or Saskatoon losses

Saskatoon to clinch 1st in the conference: 7.5 wins or Calgary losses

Red Deer to clinch at least #4 seed and home ice in the first round: 8 wins or Kootenay losses

Brandon to clinch East division title and at least #2 seed in conference: 8 wins or Saskatoon losses

Prince Albert to clinch playoff spot: 9 wins or Swift Current losses

Swift Current to be eliminated: 9 losses or Prince Albert wins

Western Conference:

Tri-City to clinch home ice in the first round: 2.5 wins or Portland losses

Tri-City to clinch conference title & #1 seed for U.S. division winner: 3.5 wins or Vancouver losses

Everett to clinch home ice in the first round: 4.5 wins or Portland losses

Tri-City to clinch division title & at least #2 seed in conference: 5.5 wins or Everett losses

Spokane to clinch home ice in the first round: 6 wins or Portland losses

Portland to clinch home ice in the first round: 8 wins or Spokane losses

Everett to clinch division title & at least #2 seed in conference: 9.5 wins or Tri-City losses

Spokane to clinch division title & at least #2 seed in conference: 11 wins or Tri-City losses

Portland to clinch division title & at least #2 seed in conference: 11.5 wins or Tri-City losses

- Everett, Portland, Spokane, Tri-City, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, and Chilliwack have mathematically clinched playoff spots. Prince George and Seattle are mathematically eliminated.

Kelowna, Kamloops, and Chilliwack cannot get home ice in the first round of the playoffs. They will finish in the #6 – #8 spots.
