werek to the rangers doherty to San Jose
Both players drafted 2nd round not bad.
It will be interesting now to see what happens with Mav and Springer when the NHL teams want to talk to Gilmour and lay out what they want done with them. You
can bet that they will give Gilmour instructions that leave very little room on how they would like the kids developed after watching what this organization
has doen to draft picks in the past.
Wings’ Hudler Signs in Russia
by Bruce Ciskie
Filed under: Red Wings, Western, NHL Free Agency, Russian Hockey
It’s been a rough month or so for the Detroit Red Wings.
They lost the last two games of the Stanley Cup Finals, eventually falling to Pittsburgh in an epic seventh game. When free agency started, the Red Wings started losing players. Marian Hossa (Chicago), Tomas Kopecky (Chicago), and Mikael Samuelsson (Vancouver) signed with Western Conference rivals. Now, the Wings have lost a good young player to the Kontinental Hockey League.

When Joe Sakic officially announces his retirement, the NHL will not only be losing one of its best players of all-time, it’s also going to be losing one of its best leaders and captains, and from nearly all accounts, an incredibly classy person. A rarity in the modern sports culture, Sakic spent his entire 20-year career with the same organization (Quebec/Colorado), scoring 625 goals and finishing with 1,641 points (eighth most all-time).
